NEW YORK, New York –Prolifics (a JYACC company) announced today a rapid application development environment for IBM’s WebSphere Web Application Software Platform. The new software product, named Panther for IBM WebSphere builds on Prolifics’s successful Panther product suite, which simplifies the creation of n-tier, component-based applications.
"IBM offered us the benefits of a relationship, bringing insight and market leadership that will allow us to help customers take advantage of the WebSphere infrastructure," said Prolifics’ CEO Richard Westle. "In addition to offering rapid EJB-building, we can now offer a simplified migration path to move our customers away from older, proprietary client/server and 3-tier technologies, to WebSphere’s open, standards-based architecture."
Prolifics is working on the development efforts with marketing support from IBM. Targeted to companies needing to build business components to operate in WebSphere’s Enterprise JavaBeans-based infrastructure, Panther for IBM WebSphere provides rapid server-side EJB building in a visual development framework. Panther for IBM WebSphere is a full lifecycle development product, allowing users to model business components in Rational’s UML-based Rose, to create industry-standard Enterprise JavaBean components and then deploy those components in IBM’s WebSphere Web Application Software Platform. “To be competitive in today’s e-business arena, companies need an integrated e-business solution –including application server, database and commerce software –to meet the sophisticated demands of today’s e-business customers, “ said Paraic Sweeney, vice president, Business Transformation, IBM Software Group. “We’re pleased that Prolifics has extended the Panther environment to help their customers build sophisticated Web solutions that maximize their e-business investment.” Prolifics demonstrated Panther for IBM WebSphere at IBM’s premier e-business event, WebSphere 2000, March 27-29, in Miami. There, attendees had the opportunity to view a demo illustrating the benefits of using Panther’s straightforward approach to EJB component building.
