Watson Studio is now available for Your Desktop

Do you want to build AI models on your desktop? If so, then here’s great news! Now you can install IBM Watson Studio's wide selection of tools on your local desktop. You will have the flexibility of building your models from wherever you want.

Download a free Beta version for a 30-day trial

The Beta version is available in three different flavors. You can choose to go with Watson Studio Cloud, Watson Studio Desktop, or Watson Studio Local.

If you are interested in getting Watson Studio, go to the Watson Studio home page and click on Join Beta.

This will take you to IBM’s SPSS Modeler trial page where Watson Studio beta is part of SPSS Trial.

If you have an IBM ID, register here.

Once the registration is complete, you should see the SPSS Modeler, and Watson Studio added to your account.

Once the activation is complete, you will see the “Manage” button. Clicking this will take you to the IBM SPSS Modeler Subscription Trial & Watson Studio Desktop Beta.

Click Download on the left side menu to get the installable for both SPSS and Watson Studio.

Go ahead - Download Watson Studio Beta. You can also choose to download and install the SPSS as a 30 days free trial.

After the download completes, run the installable. It’s an easy three step process to complete the installation.

That’s it! You now have Watson Studio Desktop application installed. You can start building your models and playing around with the Beta version.

Expect to see differences in features if you have been using IBM Watson Studio Cloud. Here is an example screen shot of how your projects will look like in cloud vs. desktop – notice how some of the additional options are available in cloud. Other differences include: Adding to a project, launch IDE, machine learning models, visual recognition models, etc.

Desktop Studio is a Beta version for now, so watch out for more updates moving forward. For more collaboration and to keep yourself updated with the Desktop Studio, please visit the Watson Studio Beta community. IBM has provided an Early Beta Survey here for feedback as well.
