The company sought to reduce redundant processes being performed by multiple business units, as well as extend applications to their customers in order to stay competitive in the market.

BUSINESS PROBLEM

Extend Assets to a Distributed Workforce
Heavily invested in BEA WebLogic and ColdFusion technology, the corporation specifically sought an appropriate B2E solution that would integrate its Legacy 3270 and ColdFusion applications into a single unified framework as well as successfully integrate with Interwoven, Verity, and Tivoli security authorization.

The company sought to leverage existing platforms and skills, eliminate redundant processes, create a dynamic workplace for its distributed employees, and extend applications to its large and growing customer base.

SOLUTION

Apply Enterprise-wide Portal
With such strict requirements, Prolifics, as part of the IBM Software Services Division, was brought in for their portal and application integration expertise to integrate the corporation’s legacy applications into a Portal infrastructure.

The corporation selected WebSphere Portal Server and WebSphere Studio Application Developer as the optimal solution to address its collaboration, personalization, content management and security requirements.

Prolifics consultants assisted with the full project lifecycle, ranging from installation and configuration of WebSphere Portal, to design of the portal architecture, to implementation of a robust, unified portal interface complete with overall search capabilities, single sign-on, and centralized security administration.

In only 6 months, Prolifics and IBM delivered the B2E Portal that is in use today by 100,000 employees worldwide.
